Police in Delta respond to the murder of Serjeant Ifeanyi by gunmen.

The Nigeria Police have responded to the murder of an officer, Serjeant Ifeanyi, in Delta state by gunmen.

On Friday, it was reported on social media that Ifeanyi had been murdered by his kidnappers.

Slain Ifeanyi until his death and was assigned to the Ughelli Area Command's Eagle Nett patrol team.

However, details surrounding his murder remained scanty; reports had it that the deceased was abducted on Thursday evening while returning home from official duty.

Confirming the incident on Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, Mr Bright Edafe, said: “The killed police officer was returning home after closing of work.

“He was intercepted and kidnapped; later, we discovered his dead body. Search for the assailants is on, and we will see how we can get them as soon as possible.”

Two months ago, gunmen killed three Police officers attached to the security team of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta.

In July last year, gunmen killed three Police officers in Okpanam, Oshimili Local Government Area of Delta State.
