EPL: Arteta, the Arsenal manager, has been issued a sack warning.

Arsenal legend Tony Adams has warned that the club has 'peaked,' implying that manager Mikel Arteta could be fired.

Despite leading the Premier League for the majority of the season, Arsenal finished second this season.

At one point, the Gunners were eight points ahead of Pep Guardiola's side and appeared to be on their way to winning the Premier League for the first time in 19 years.

However, the north London side suffered a late collapse which City pounced on to lift the trophy.

“Mikel Arteta worked wonders to get Arsenal into second place considering the players he had at his disposal,” Adams told The Sun.

“But when a manager has massively over-performed and raised a club’s expectations so high, there’s often a fallout if the level of improvement isn’t maintained the following season.

“And when that happens, he’s often gone by Christmas.

“I am not for one minute suggesting that the Gunners are going to be getting rid of Arteta, but I do fear that this could be as good as it gets for them,” he added.
