EPL: Carragher names Premier League manager of the season and names eight candidates.

Jamie Carragher, a Liverpool legend, has named the nine managers in contention for Premier League manager of the season.

Erik ten Hag of Manchester United did not make Carragher's list.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi oversaw his team's 3-0 thrashing of Premier League contenders Arsenal on Sunday, and the Liverpool legend was impressed.

Carragher believes the Italian gaffer is leading in the race for the manager of the season and reckons there are eight more contenders.

Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and the likes of Julen Lopetegui at Wolves are all mentioned.

Carragher tweeted: “What a performance from Brighton yet again today, their manager could be manager of the season. Has there ever been so many candidates for that award?”

He then listed: Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, Eddie Howe, Roberto De Zerbi, Unai Emery, Thomas Frank, Gary O’Neil, Marco Silva and Julen Lopetegui.

The win against Arsenal brightens the chances of De Zerbi’s men securing their first ever European campaign.
