EPL: Hargreaves blames Southampton's relegation on a Nigerian player.

Owen Hargreaves, a former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder, has slammed Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu following Southampton's relegation from the Premier League on Saturday.

Following a 2-0 defeat to Fulham at St. Mary's Stadium, the Saints return to the Championship for the first time in 11 years.

Southampton have been in the bottom three since November and have had to add attacking options like Onuachu in January to stay up.

Onuachu could not even find the back of the net for once despite scoring goals for fun in Belgium where he was signed from.

Hargreaves said that the transfer of the Nigeria international to Southampton has not worked out as planned.

“When you think about Sulemana he didn’t do anything. Onuachu did not do anything. It was a nice idea but it didn’t work out for them.”
