EPL: Lampard reveals the first thing he saw upon his return to Chelsea

Frank Lampard, Chelsea's interim manager, has revealed the first thing he saw when he arrived at the club last April.

The Englishman, who previously coached the club as a permanent manager, was appointed on an interim basis in April following Graham Potter's dismissal.

In 12 games as manager, the former Blues captain was able to win just one game - a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth - and guided the club to 12th place in the league table - their worst in Premier League history.

Addressing the press after the last game of the season, which was also his very last as the manager, Lampard said that things were no longer the way they used to be at Stamford Bridge.

“At the minute, when I came in, very quickly I could see that there wasn’t enough [competitiveness among players].

“I think that’s something needed and of course a very good manager will help that. But everyone needs to take responsibility, players and club alike,” he said.
