EPL: Lampard suggests a new role for Enzo Fernandez at Chelsea.

Frank Lampard, Chelsea's interim manager, believes Enzo Fernandez can thrive in a more advanced role for the team next season.

When he joined the Blues from Benfica in January for £106 million, the Argentina midfielder became the most expensive player in Premier League history.

Fernandez shone in central midfield as Argentina won the World Cup in 2022.

However, the 22-year-old was used in a double pivot by Graham Potter and more recently in a midfield three by Lampard.

But Lampard believes Fernandez can excel further up the pitch.

“My personal view with Enzo is that he can probably play in all the midfield roles.

“But seeing him train and play, I get the feeling from him that he has more to offer than as a single No 6.

“He can play as a double No 6 or as a No 8 where he can join into the game more,” Lampard said.
