In Ogun, 40 suspected cultists and armed robbers were paraded.

On Tuesday, 39 young men were paraded by police in Ogun State for allegedly belonging to various cult groups.

The suspected cultists were apprehended throughout the state for inciting crises and killing people in places such as Sagamu, Abeokuta, and others.

Ayinde Musibau, a suspected armed robber, was also paraded alongside the cultists for allegedly carrying out an unsuccessful robbery operation at a village in Ifo Local Government, even as other members of his gang cut a commercial bike rider with a machete before fleeing.

ChinyKo reports that the 40 suspects were paraded by the State Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Oladimeji, at the State police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Speaking, the Commissioner of Police said arrest of the cultists was in continuation of the command’s clampdown on cultists fuelling mayhem in Ogun.

Olanrewaju said the command had resolved to take the battle to the doorsteps of the “known various cultists that have been unleashing reigns of terror against one another in Sagamu, Odogbolu and others.

“Having identified their various hideouts in Sagamu, Odogbolu, Ode-Lemo and some other areas, the Anti-Cultism team in collaboration with other tactical teams and divisional police operatives launched a very serious offensive operation against them and the result is what we are seeing today”, the CP said.

He disclosed that 24 suspected cultists earlier arrested had been charged to court.

He warned parents and guardians to warn their wards to desist from engaging in acts that threaten the security of the state, stating that the command was determined to rid the state of cultism and other vices.
