Ligue 1: As PSG wins the league title, Messi breaks Ronaldo's record.

Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain has broken Cristiano Ronaldo's record for most goals scored in Europe's top five leagues.

On Saturday, Messi scored his 496th goal to help PSG win the Ligue 1 title.

In the second half, the 35-year-old scored off a pass from Kylian Mbappe.

PSG ended up drawing the game 1-1 as Kevin Gameiro scored an equaliser for Strasbourg.

But it didn’t matter, as all the reigning champions needed to avoid defeat at the Stade de la Meinau to retain their trophy.

It’s Messi’s second league title in France, and he will have one final home game to extend the record come next Saturday when Clermont Foot come to the capital.
