The Nigeria National League (NNL) maintains that the Super Eight tournament will increase the league's competitiveness.
Mr Emmanuel Adesanya, the NNL's head of operations, revealed this during a press conference at the league's secretariat in Abuja.
Adesanya promised that the tournament would produce the best teams that would play in the Nigeria Premier Football League the following season.

“The Super Eight tournaments will only make the league thicker,” he stated.
“The tournaments will produce the best teams that will be joining the NPFL next season no doubt about that.”
Four teams from the Northern and Southern Conference will compete in the Super Eight.
The top four teams in the competition will then gain promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
