Transfer: 10 Nigerian players who could swap club this summer

With the 2022/23 European season winding down, ChinyKo presents the list of Nigerian players set to change clubs in the summer.

The talismanic forward played a key role in Napoli winning a first Scudetto in over three decades this season.

Virtually unknown before linking up with Belgian Pro League outfit, KAA Gent from Norwegian second division club, Stabaek in January, Gift Orban has grown to become one of the most sought after forwards in Europe.

The 20-year-old has scored 20 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions for the Buffalos.

Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano reported this week that Ligue 1 club, Lille have established contact with Gent to sign him.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund also have him on their radar.

Belgian Pro League side, Union Saint Gilloise are resigned to losing the forward to another club after just one season.

Victor Boniface joined the club from Norwegian side, Bodo/Glint last summer for around €2m.

Union Saint Gilloise Chief Executive Officer, Philippe Borman revealed this week that the striker will leave the club this summer.

The big striker finally fulfilled his long-term ambition of playing in the Premier League after joining Southampton from Belgian side, KRC Genk in January.

Bassey could leave the Eredivisie giants this summer with a number of clubs reportedly interested in his services.

Chuba Akpom enjoyed a productive season with Sky Bet Championship club, Middlesbrough. He scored 29 goals in all competitions, including 28 in the league.

The 27-year-old is expected to leave the Riverside this summer following the club’s failure to secure promotion to the Premier League.

The forward enjoyed huge plaudits last season after helping Dutch club Feyenoord reach the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Dessers however failed to help Cremonese beat the drop in Serie A this time around. He could be set for a move elsewhere.
