Chief Ndake of the Nsenga people in Nyimba district has asked the government to continue pumping in more money in the social Cash Transfer programme, as it has benefited a lot of vulnerable families in his chiefdom.
He says the monies have mitigated the sufferings of many households.
The traditional leader is thankful that his Chiefdom is privileged to be among the beneficiaries of the grant, out of many Chiefdoms in the country.
Chief Ndake has however appealed to the social welfare office in Nyimba to identify more vulnerable children for assistance starting at primary level.
He said many orphaned children have been turned away from the social welfare office, as priority is usually given to those at tertiary level.
Chief Ndake said this when the minister of Community Development and Social Services Kampamba Mulenga paid a courtesy call on him at his Lwezi Palace in Nyimba district.
And Ms Mulenga said additional financing has been acquired for the social Cash Transfer programme to cater for more vulnerable young people.
She said this will assist more young people to have access to education.
Ms Mulenga also said the government hopes to increase the number of beneficiaries under the Food Security programme.
