Community Development Minister Kampamba Mulenga has launched the Kalulushi 5-thousand family empowerment initiative in Kalulushi.
The initiative is meant to empower local communities with agriculture inputs and livestock.
So far, the community of Mwambashi has established 7-thousand plants of tomatoes and planted vegetables on a two-acre piece of land
Ms Mulenga also handed over 10 pigs, cows and goats to farmers of Ichimpe in Ichimpe ward of Kalulushi,
And Kalumbila Multi-Purpose Cooperative Chairman general Chilekwa Mambwe who is the overseer of the project said 5-thousand people in Kalulushi will benefit from the project.
Mr. Mambwe said currently the initiative has planted 49-thousand tomatoes countrywide in different communities.
And residents of Ichimpe have thanked the government for the initiative saying it is the kind of development they want.
