Erik ten Hag has told Antony that the Brazilian winger can do better following his drop in form in recent games.
Antony was one of the Ajax players who joined Manchester United after Erik ten Hag was hired as manager last summer.
The Brazilian winger was signed for £84million, making him the club’s second most expensive signing of all-time behind Paul Pogba.
He went on to score in each of his first three games for Manchester United but the attacker has since then failed to score in the league again and is yet to register an assist.
There have been calls for the Brazil international to be dropped from the starting XI in subsequent games but speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of United’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest, Ten Hag admitted that the winger has to do better.
He said: “He can do better, I see space for improvement. For instance, and I think also you know this, we want him to be more direct and be more involved. But, as I said, the team is performing better if he is on the pitch.”
