Mulenga donates to Bus Drivers

(Zanis) Kalulushi Member of Parliament Kampamba Mulenga has donated 50 thousand Kwacha empowerment funds to the Chibuluma Bus Drivers’ Association.

Ms Mulenga says the money will be used as a revolving fund to boost the association’s business activities.

She says the government will continue empowering youths to sustain their livelihood.

Ms Mulenga said this in Kalulushi at the Bus Drivers Association Elections day held at Umulu Pleasure Resort.

Ms Mulenga, who’s also Community Development Minister said the government has realized that the effects of COVID-19 have not spared businesses.

She said the donation is just a small token to push the association earn extra income and disclosed that her office will be distributing mealie meal every month to reduce on the burden families are going amid the COVID 19.

The Kalulushi lawmaker also commended the association for following the health regulations set to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in public passenger service vehicles.

Meanwhile, Bus and Taxi Owners Association Chairperson Boas Mwakila appealed to the government to lift the ban on night travel because it has affected their business.

Mr Mwakila also called for the reduction or complete removal of presumptive tax on their business.

And in a vote of thanks Association Secretary Wallace Malambo assured the MP that the donation will be put to good use.
